5 Reasons To Register For Winter Semester

Here are 5 reasons to get registered and take classes when the snow flies (too soon?).

1. Let’s add some cheer to winter.
We could all use a pick-me-up, and nothing inspires a positive attitude like taking positive action to improve your education and career prospects. It’s time to shake up the snowglobe and see what changes you can make.

2. You deserve an education.
Essential frontline workers who put themselves on the line and sacrificed for the greater good during the pandemic may be eligible for tuition-free education through the state of Michigan’s Futures for Frontliners program. You put in the work, now you can get the reward this winter semester.

3. Free money makes a great gift.
The Kirtland Foundation offers plenty of scholarships, including a new scholarship for students in the Wood Science Technology program. This winter you can apply for ALL the scholarships through the Kirtland Foundation, and earn financial assistance as you gain your college education. 

4. Your goals are within reach.
Whether you’re a new or returning student, registering for winter classes will have a positive snowball effect on your momentum, and keep you moving toward a degree or certificate, or help you accumulate transfer credits if you plan to go on to a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university. 

5. Add education to your winter activities. Getting outdoors for winter sports is a fantastic pastime. It’s one of the reasons living, working and learning in Northern Michigan is so great. But when the temperature gets REALLY cold, it’s nice to grab a hot cocoa and a laptop and settle in for online classes by the fireplace.
